No hello, Good Afternoon...nothing. I didnt leave a review on my first visit, but she had the same reaction then. I made a purchase on that occasion...no please...no thank you...nothing. Readers Digest version: she should not interface with customers.

These folks are GREAT and LOVE what they do!!! We recently had our tandem bike tuned-up and fixed by Pedal Power. They were very informative and helpful when it came to deciding what actions to take on our bike when certain parts werent available (and wouldnt be for months) due to COVID. They are incredibly knowledgeable, and I would highly recommend their services. When it comes time again for our future tune ups, we will be heading to Pedal Power RVA.

I had my bike serviced there almost 2 years ago and they did good work on my brakes for only 13 bucks. I recently had my bike stolen and needed to find proof of ownership and they kept extensive detail records. The employee couldn’t find the service record at first and I was ready to give up but he kept trying new methods and insisting until he found it. His effort will be the difference in getting my claim with renters insurance situated so I can get some money to put towards my new bike. Thanks so much!

I had an absolutely amazing bike purchasing experience at Pedal Power RVA. Charlotte was such an awesome and knowledgeable sales person. Hadn’t been to this shop before, walked in asked if I could drop two bikes. Seemed pretty busy and before I even got the second bike inside they already had one bike up checking it out. Happy with my experience here. Came in around opening on Saturday as they seem to be the only shop around town that opens before 10 am. Needed a spoke replaced before 2 PM for a ride that same day and Luke took care of it then and there within half an hour all told. He did a thorough, speedy job. Great service.

Drove up from lower north Carolina to pick up a mountain e-bike for myself and my wife. Guys were super helpful making sure that we knew every feature of the bikes electric ride system. I purchased a bike here when I moved down in August. I dont have a car and I wanted a very specific brand and make that would be suited for daily commuting (Kona Rove DL). David was extremely helpful, and after the bike arrived they fitted it with everything that I would need. They do free tune ups and answered all my questions about care and safety. I would definitely recommend stopping by for any and all bike needs. Friendly local staff that truly seems to care about cycling, and I got a beautiful bike from the process!

Excellent service and staff! I brought my son’s bike in with a bottom bracket bearing failure, thinking I was just going to buy a part. They offered to remove the old part and see what we were dealing with. The diagnosis was a grooved bottom bracket, requiring far more than a simple repair. Luke “the Doctor” is a thorough and highly skilled bicycle mechanic. He had to cut new threads, replaced the sealed bearing and cranks, tuned the brakes and gear controls. I will never go anywhere else for my bike needs! Customer for life!

This place rocks. Brought my Cannondale trail 8 in there earlier to figure out why my chain was slipping under pressure after repeatedly trying to take it to the shop I unfortunately purchased it from, contes bike shop. After talking with ernest very briefly he invited the bike in for a peek. Him and Lucas (i really hope i remembered his name correctly) spent a very minimal amount of time diagnosing a cassette with worn down teeth, a tire that wasnt set, and an improperly tuned derailleur. I just got done with my longest ride yet, didnt realize I was working so hard on the normal 5 mile ride until I did 9 miles in pocahontas in the same amount of time and using a similar amount of energy. The look of pure joy was glued to my face the following hours, as I recall gliding through berms and tearing through rooty uphills like it was what I was born to do. When I slid around corners and into a tree I couldnt help but laugh at how well my brakes were now working. Although this was merely a simple tune-up, I am very much grateful for the love these guys showed me and my bike today. So thanks guys.

Do you have a favorite bike or at least a memory of one you owned? Mine was a blue Schwinn Stingray growing up. The latest is an old Raleigh Gran Sport that brings me a joy to ride, but when my left Sora shifter/brake broke on a ride I thought the bike would never be complete again.After what felt like years of searching, I finally found the needed part and Pedal Power RVA put the Raleigh back together and for a very reasonable price. Pedal Power RVA not only put it back together they went over it tuning the bike, added a new wrap for the bars and she rides even better than I can ever remember. The staff was extremely professional with great service work at a very reasonable price.

I needed a brake to be fixed so, I called one place named “Agee‘s”. Although they were very nice they told me I would have to wait 3 to 4 weeks just to look at my bike. So I called Pedal Power. This gentleman was so nice. I informed him it was a brake. He said come in we can check it out, but if it’s something more then I would have to wait 3 to 4 weeks. I got there and really guys, the gentleman fixed it in 3 minutes!! I was expecting to pay like 50 bucks, but instead he said no don’t worry about it! He didn’t charge me! I will always come here if anything goes wrong with my bikes!! You made my daughter so happy today, Thank You!!!

These guys are awesome, brought them a older bike that was in a bad. It has been years, over 15 since this bike had been ridden. They put it back into excellent shape and got me what needed with out trying to up sell. If I purchase anything or my bike I will go there before trying on line even if it is a little more. Best bike shop experience I’ve had in Richmond. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate without being condescending. Mark, especially, is a great ambassador for the sport, whether that is directed towards a beginner or an experienced rider.If you’ve been riding for years, they have the shiny bits you need. If you’re just getting started, they’ll help you out without making the process intimidating.

I was getting a low level squeaking sound from my rear derailleur for several weeks that was annoying and I wasnt able to find. Pedal Power fixed it and the bikes been shifting better than it has in months. Ive also passed this onto several other riders in my ride club Richmond Area Bicycling Assoc (aka: RABA.org).

I highly recommend Pedal Power!! I would be surprised if you can find a better bicycle purchase experience in any other local store. And trust me; I looked in four bike specialty stores, three thrift shops, and two big named department type stores. None compared to my experience at Pedal Power. First, I mainly worked with the owner. For the big guy on campus he was completely down to earth and extremely easy to communicate with. My budget wasnt super large. Although they do offer the bigger budget blockbuster units, the also had several lower priced items for someone like me. This includes several used options. Although I didnt have the bigger budget, they still made me feel as though I was there to spend big money. During my three visits all my questions were answered without judgment or irritation. I also took the best test ride I could image; on pavement, in grass, and up a BIG hill. The two other shops I actually completed a test drive on had pretty much flat surfaces in their parking lots to test all terrain. That wasnt too impressive after taking a test ride with Mark (the owner). Lastly, they really work with you, and help you figure out your true needs. I was looking for a comfort/cruiser (such as the Townie, which all other shops were good with selling me, no questions asked). However after explaining my goal it was discovered those type of bikes would not suit my needs and I was actually in need of a hybrid. I found the perfect used unit at Pedal Power, and am very happy to give them my business.

Were new to Richmond and we picked this bike shop based on the reviews and the locality. We love this place. They have a large selection of bikes and accessories. The guys we talked to were personable, knowledgeable, patient, and very helpful, They tuned and cleaned up my hybrid which sat in a shed for 2 years and my wife made some great purchases. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a great cycle repair and/or shopping experience.

Customer service here is great. All of the workers are very personable, and they know what they are talking about when it comes to bikes. My family and I have been customers of Pedal Power for 15 years, and we were pleased to see the doors stay open under new ownership.

After speaking with Gwyn about bike options over the phone I knew I wanted to deal with this shop. Though I found a really good deal on a used bike through another channel I knew I wanted to give them some business. I took the used bike in for a tune up and get some gear. Tune up wasnt needed at all though the cost quoted seemed reasonable. Gwyn and the gang were terrific. No pressure sales, provided good information and even help me learn to click in and out of the cycling shoes on the indoor trainer since Im a novice cyclist. Glad to have found a bike shop that I feel I can trust.

I was able to get my questions answered, and do my own thing around the shop as I picked out what I needed without anyone following me around!In addition, breastfeeding Mommas, this is your shop! The staff and owner were so respectful of my space asking if I needed privacy before approaching our vechicle when dropping my bikes off with my husband while I pumped in the car until I could feed my baby. I didnt, and staff came over to help with the bikes! They understand when a baby has got to eat, they need to eat! I noticed the carpets must be regularly vaccumed - so clean I could put my baby down to crawl for just a minute with worrying she would find crumbs to eat when looking at helmets!PLUS, they are installing the baby seat we bought and their turn around for servicing bikes is so quick! We were told they would be ready by middle of next week which is only 5 or 6 days away. Great work!!

Ive been a customer of Pedal Power for many years, mostly in their days at their old Mechanicsville shop. They merged and now are at Staples Mill Rd. Randy, Travis and all the team are awesome. I bought a new Giant road bike from them, and recently bought a used Giant mountain bike for some trail rides. They are friendly, fair, and like family. They even ask about my cycling kids and how they are doing. No arrogance here like some of the other Richmond shops.

The customer service exceeds expectations. I recently purchased a bike from Pedal Power, which I am very happy with. They set me up with the right bike for my needs, at the right price. A few hundred miles later, I noticed a noise that needed further investigation. I stopped by the shop without calling or having an appointment. The guys at pedal power welcomed me in, immediately diagnosed the noise and replaced the part. During this time, they also adjusted all cables, and tire pressure. All of this was at no charge to me, 15 min. later I was happily rolling out the door.

Great service while helping my son pick a BMX bike. I had no idea what to get him but went to the perfect place. My son rides on his bike any chance he gets-- he loves it.

This is what a local bike shop should be. The first time I went in I was having a small issue with the brakes on a bike I bought at a LBS on the other side of town. The mechanic spent about 20 minutes working on my bike, fixed the problem and then refused to charge me. The second time I went I was having much more serious issues with my bike. It was a Saturday so I called ahead to make sure a mechanic was on duty. It was only a few hours before they closed when I finally arrived. My bike is my only form of transportation. Despite it being the weekend and the store being quite busy they managed to make fixing my bike a priority and had me out of the there in under 2 hours. Today I stopped by for some cleaning supplies. The guy working also spent some time with me going over a few upgrade options down the road. Before I left I asked if I could fill up my water bottle. He asked if I would also like a popsycle (Its hot as hell out today). I was expecting to be given one of those frozen sugar water dye colored plastic tubes. This dude, because this place is a PROPER RVA bike shop came back with a full sized King Of Pops popsycle. I am now a customer for life!

This is the best bike shop in Richmond. You wont be ignored, you wont be pressured to buy something you dont want, you wont be treated like an idiot for asking questions. Repairs will be done quickly and done well. There are other bike shops in town with larger inventories and more expensive machines, but Randy, Sean, Latane, and Travis will get you whatever you need, quickly.Ive been coming here for years to have my bikes repaired. Over the past two years Ive bought two new Giant bikes, one for my wife and one for myself. Giant makes most of the bikes youll buy in the other stores in town, but because they dont have to pay royalties to themselves, they come better equipped than equivalent bikes at the same price. When the wheels on my Giant Defy Advanced turned out to be too light for my fat body (after free repairs on the wheels), Sean and Randy helped me order some new, heavier-duty wheels. When those wheels werent right from the factory, they got on the line and made the factory (Velocity) build new, better wheels at the same price as the others. As I walked out the door with the right wheels, Latane said, Remember those wheels are part of the bike you bought, so they have the same warranty. If you have any problems, well take care of them.Randy moved the repair station to the middle of the floor, so everyone can watch whats going on and talk to the mechanics. That kind of openness pervades the whole shop.Stop here first. It will either be the only stop you make, or it will be the place you come back to after having been ignored or condescended to at the other bike shops in town.

If I could give no stars to this shop, I would. I had a very negative experience. The charge was twice what I was told it would be and the staff could neither tell me what was adjusted on our bikes nor why my rear tire lost air. Only that it didnt raise any concerns for them, and if there was a problem, an inner tube wasnt included anyway (for the $70 I paid per bike.) First ride, I put my water bottle in the holder and the whole thing slides off. I own a nice bike to ride with my kids but I felt very taken advantage of by this group of twenty somethings. If, as a middle aged lady, I have to ask for help loading my bikes into the minivan, you can be sure I wont be going back. Ever.

I was very impressed upon walking into the new location of Pedal Power. Theyve got plenty of inventory and the staff really knows cycling.Mike, the manager, is a racer (cyclocross, MTB, road) and both Kate and Albert (the mechanics) are wizards when it comes to wrenching.Ill tell anybody to check these guys out before going to the other shops in town. Theyre not as intimidating as some, and definitely more knowledgeable then most.
